Current Opportunities

Wash Plant Operations Supervisor - Penobsquis, NB

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work with our plant foreman on the following:

Job Location – Penobsquis, NB

Operations:
- Manage the overall operations of the wash plant.
- Manage the maintenance and repairs of all company equipment. 
- All aspects of health & safety for our employees and anyone on our site.
- Ensuring the products we produce are compliant with all applicable specifications.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental requirements.
- Production planning to ensure we have the inventory of products we require.

Personnel:
- Management of all site staff.

Customers:
- Work with our customers to understand their quantity and quality requirements.
- Trouble shoot customer complaints.

Aggregates:
- Locating and testing potential new aggregate sources.
- Working with pit owners.
- Development of pits including managing the clearing, grubbing, loading, trucking and rehabilitation phases.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience:

- 5+ years experience in aggregates production, preferably wash plant operations.
- Valid drivers’ license in NB
- Proven leadership abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude – knowledge of operation, maintenance, and basic repairs of wash plant and mobile equipment.
- Some knowledge of the applicable specifications for concrete aggregate products.

Truck Dispatcher - Full-Time Permanent

S. W. Weeks Construction Limited is a locally-owned business established in 1971 with its head office located in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Quarry operations and road construction are our two main divisions and has experience in the following areas:

  • Crushing aggregates
  • Asphalt production
  • Highway road construction
  • Private paving work
  • Water and sewer projects

We have an immediate opening for the following position:

 Truck Dispatcher – Full Time Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Daily dispatch of all trucks.
  • Organize trucks for hourly/by the load jobs as required.
  • Arrange for prompt delivery of product.
  • Receive and respond to calls and emails from supervisors, foreman and drivers.
  • Ensure hours of service regulations are being adhered to by company drivers (e-log).
  • Outsourcing and recruiting of trucks as required.
  • Manage phone calls, emails, text messages and in person communication.
  • Ensure trucks are provided with the appropriate scheduled contents and give driver the related documentation/customer information/directions/ special instructions/ permits.
  • Ordering any necessary over-weight and/or over-dimensional permits
  • Co-ordinate driver schedules to accommodate Foreman’s requirements and business volumes for high and low seasons.
  • Schedule regular maintenance and safety on trucks with company drivers.
  • Assisting shop part manger with inventory, work orders and completing purchase order

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a dispatch role
  • Must have a valid NS driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office software, MS Word, Excel, and Event.
  • The ability to learn quickly and be adaptable to change.
  • The ability to prioritize and organize (be able to multi-task).
  • The ability to work well under pressure of deadlines.
  • The ability to work nights when necessary.
  • The ability to work Saturdays.

Heavy Equipment Technician - Fulltime Permanent

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starting Red Seal Technician to join our growing Repair and Maintenance team based in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.

Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Certified minimum of 3 years.
  • Must be safety minded and follow all company and site safety policies.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Able to work flexible hours to keep our equipment running.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and use computer based diagnostic tooling.
  • Be able to understand mobile equipment systems to effectively and efficiently determine the necessary route for repair.
  • Be experienced, competent and able to troubleshoot, repair, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile equipment.
  • Be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to provide high quality service work with the best interest of the company in mind.
  • Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi and Crushing experience would be an asset.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, inspection, diagnose, repairs, and preventive maintenance of company fleet to ensure high machine availability
  • Follow and practice workplace health and safety policies and regulations, ensure proper disposal of any hazardous waste
  • Work to be performed on company fleet in shop and in the field
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation
  • Other related tasks as assigned
