Truck Driver Class 1/Class 3 - Full Time Seasonal

Responsibilities: 

  • Pick up & deliver aggregates and asphalt to government and private construction sites in Northern and Eastern Nova Scotia on time
  • Transport heavy equipment between construction sites may be required
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and a clean driving abstract

Asphalt Roller Operator - Full Time Seasonal

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the asphalt roller, including maintenance
  • Work as part of a team under supervision of the Paving Foreman and/or Paving Superintendent
  • Complete daily inspections of the roller and complete daily equipment checklist

Qualifications:

Asphalt Paving Foreperson - Full Time Seasonal

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the asphalt paving/patching crew, including maintenance, and health & safety
  • Lead and motivate the asphalt paving/patching crew
  • Manage staff scheduling and liaison with Temporary Workplace Signer
  • Work with Construction Superintendents and Project Managers to implement schedules
  • Coordinate the purchase of materials and supplies and ordering of trucks
  • Communicate regularly with subcontractors and customers
  • Manage repairs and maintenance of machinery
  • Site Observations – constant and consistent equipment monitoring and inspecting while other tasks are being completed
  • Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Inspection Logs, Toolbox Talks, Daily Timecards and Accomplishment Reports
  • Other duties as required

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy construction (related to paving/patching, preferably)
  • Valid Class 5 NS drivers’ license
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude – knowledge of operation, maintenance & basic repairs of paving equipment
  • Hands on management style

Project Coordinator/Estimator - Full Time Permanent

This position is located at our Head Office in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Highway Manager, you will interact with electrical, mechanical, and other subcontractors on a regular basis.  You will be responsible for various estimating activities which will include:  specification and drawing reviews, basic & detailed take-offs, soliciting material prices, preparation of estimates, preparation and maintaining of project schedules and participation in coordination meetings.

 Qualifications: 

  • be a graduate from a post secondary program, technical program, diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Technology
  • must have a valid Class 5 (Minimum) NS Driver’s License
  • have some construction experience
  • be able to read and understand drawings, specifications and information that are pertinent to the job at hand and be able to pass information onto suppliers and/or subcontractors
  • be able to assess materials, labour and constructability aspects of a project
  • be organized and enjoy a detailed approach to quantity take-offs
  • have a strong knowledge of Autocad and Modeling software

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, assistance, and guidance on all safety related matters
  • Develop, improve, and upgrade work procedures and controls
  • Review and provide feedback and conduct necessary investigations as required. (Taking lead on more serious incidents)

 Qualifications:

Wash Plant Operations Supervisor - Penobsquis, NB

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work with our plant foreman on the following:

Job Location – Penobsquis, NB

Operations:
- Manage the overall operations of the wash plant.
- Manage the maintenance and repairs of all company equipment. 
- All aspects of health & safety for our employees and anyone on our site.
- Ensuring the products we produce are compliant with all applicable specifications.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental requirements.
- Production planning to ensure we have the inventory of products we require.

Personnel:
- Management of all site staff.

Customers:
- Work with our customers to understand their quantity and quality requirements.
- Trouble shoot customer complaints.

Aggregates:
- Locating and testing potential new aggregate sources.
- Working with pit owners.
- Development of pits including managing the clearing, grubbing, loading, trucking and rehabilitation phases.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience:

- 5+ years experience in aggregates production, preferably wash plant operations.
- Valid drivers’ license in NB
- Proven leadership abilities.
